Ben par­tic­i­pates in many aspects of the firm, in addi­tion to man­ag­ing a sub­stan­tial num­ber of port­fo­lios. He pos­sesses a wealth of expe­ri­ence and has been man­ag­ing socially respon­si­ble port­fo­lios since 1985. He was one of the founders of Clean Yield Asset Man­age­ment and served as its pres­i­dent from 1985 until 1996. Sub­se­quently he was a vice pres­i­dent and port­fo­lio man­ager with F.L. Put­nam Invest­ment Man­age­ment from 1996 until 2002, and part­ner and port­fo­lio man­ager at the Boston Fam­ily Office until 2007.

Prior to enter­ing the invest­ment field he held account­ing posi­tions with Price­Wa­ter­house­C­oop­ers and Tyco Inter­na­tional. He received his BS in Envi­ron­men­tal Con­ser­va­tion in 1977 and an MBA from the Uni­ver­sity of New Hamp­shire in 1983.

Ben is a mem­ber of the Char­tered Finan­cial Ana­lysts Insti­tute, the Boston Secu­rity Ana­lysts Soci­ety (BSAS), and the Social Invest­ment Forum. He has served on the boards of the Jessie Smith Noyes Foun­da­tion, the Maine Ini­tia­tives Fund, the Sea­coast Anti-​Pollution League, York Hos­pi­tal, Bow Street Youth Sym­phony, Maine Busi­nesses for Social Respon­si­bil­ity, the Portsmouth Music Hall, and the Exeter Area VNA. When not work­ing with socially respon­si­ble invest­ments, Ben enjoys play­ing bass with the New Legacy Swing Band or engag­ing in out­door activities.
